Welcome! (sticky)

I'm starting this blog in the hopes that it will help motivate me to finally start getting rid of the pounds I've added since I had my son back in 2003. I'm going to start participating in the Tales from the Scales challenge, in order to keep myself accountable.

The ticker I put in my header shows my overall goal. Right now I'm going to work on getting under 200, or about halfway to my overall goal. I think it will be a huge boost to my ego to get on the scale and not see a 2 up there!

Here's hoping that this will be a diary of progress, not disappointment!

I REALLY need to do something too. I admire you for blogging about it, etc. I have a BIG weight problem and so far what I've read in your blog is pretty similar to my own downfalls. I enjoy pop and all the goodies too. I hate exercise and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired and yet... I still haven't tried very hard to change that. Maybe seeing your progress will help me in my battle. By the way, I found your site on Skittles site which I got from my friend tigger's site.

Good luck!
There are many schools of thought about how to best lose weight. The one I have been learning about says that you should plan to make permanent changes to your lifestyle not just a temporary diet. For that to be successful, you should never ban a food. Moderation is the key.
Also, when you change to healthier foods make sure you are picking ones you can live with. If you really can't stand low-fat sour cream, then get the real stuff. Make changes elsewhere. This sounds like what you are doing when you chose Coke Zero over Diet Coke.
